The brand’s history is connected to the late 1950s when it was formed in 1959 in Vadodara, Gujarat. In 1963, the company partnered with Motokov-Praha (Zetor) of Czechoslovakia and changed its name to Tractor & Bulldozers Limited in 1964. The company further changed its name to Hindustan Tractors Pvt. Ltd. in 1967. In 1972, the Gujarat government acquired the company under the national program by Gujarat Agro and further changed its name to Gujarat Tractor Corporation Ltd. In 1999, Mahindra & Mahindra Group acquired the company by purchasing a 51% stake and renamed it Mahindra Gujarat Tractors Ltd. (MGTL). In 2017, Mahindra again renamed the company, which is now popular as Gromax Agri Equipment Ltd.
